    Can't Print, Can't Copy Document (Word 2000)

I received a word document that contains contents that can't be printed or highlighted for copying. How can that be done ? I used section protection to provent copying, but still can be printed.

    Does the document contain macros?

Perhaps if the entire document was composed of hidden text (with the display of hidden text enabled), then protected for forms.

When you say it can't be printed, how does this manifest itself? File>Print is grayed out? Missing? Just doesn't work?

Was the document created in Word 2003? There is a new security feature that I've read about that does exactly that (and doesn't allow using Save As either) in 2003.

The document has no macro. It can be print previewed, but when I print, it only produces blank pages. I can use "save as". The text can't be highlighted.

This is like a game of 20 questions... well, here are a few more.

    (1) Does the document appear to have any protection set (Unprotect appears on the Tools menu)?

    (2) Can it be printed to another printer (i.e., different print driver, not another identical printer)?

    (3) If you change among the views (Normal, Print Layoug, Outline, Web), do you see anything that suggests the contents are in a container, or really are a graphic, or anything else other than ordinary text? If so, do you have Drawing objects turned on under Tools>Options...>Print?

    (4) If you press Alt+F9, do any field codes appear? If so, what kind?
