    Display of comments (Word XP)

    Is there any way to display comments (but not revisions!) in balloons, and have revisions displayed the "old" way, in line?

    or display comments in a split window without having revisions there too

    or even have comments display when the cursor hovers over the comment's location AND not have the comment disappear before you finish reading it?

    Not if the revisions are Word's revision marks. However, if you convert the revisions to hardcoded markings, then yes.

    Couple weeks ago I posted code for inserting comments using the old comments pane, see <post#=311396>post 311396</post#>. But to simply view what's already been inserted takes a slightly different bit of code.

    Sub CommentPaneViewHide()
    'Toggle display of the old comment pane
    ActiveWindow.View.SplitSpecial = wdPaneComments
    End Sub

    I don't know how Word/Windows determines the amount of time a ScreenTip is displayed. Perhaps one of the system tweakers has an idea on that one?
