Style Checker (PPT 97 Win XP)

    Hi,

We have a new installation, with O97 on Win XP OS. When we run the style checker on EXISTING powerpoint presentations we get a message that the Dictionary cannot be found (it is looking for English US). Click okay and everything happens merrily anyway.

I have tried changing the default language (in word - don't know how to do it in powerpoint) to English US, but still get the error. This wouldn't have been a long term solution anyway as our preferred language is English (Aus).

Thanks in advance for any advice,

Ah, man, spelling in PPT is such a mess.

I think PPT picks up its default language settings from the keyboard and the language set in Windows Regional Settings. But within a presentation, there can be textboxes set to other languages, too.

I don't know if those will help, but they're probably worth a look.

There are other kb articles with sample code to change the language in all the textboxes in a presentation and some other stuff like that. Holler if you think you need those and I'll see if I can scare up their links. (I'm pretty sure I've posted them before on the MS newsgroups. Search Google Groups for Echo Spell in newsgroup microsoft.public.powerpoint and you can probably find them.)
