Not in Outlook 2000. This feature was introduced in Outlook 2003 which can use Information Rights Management to restrict access.

The company formerly known as Disappearing Inc. had something like that, but I believe it was mainly for internal corporate use; I don't think that it worked for Internet messages to other systems. Similarly, I think Microsoft's IRM solution requires that everyone have the same software in order to enforce the restrictions. (Well, otherwise the restricted message probably can't be opened at all.)

Disappearing worked to the internet, however it was intended for corporate users. Other companies offered similar services for individuals. IRM in office works (for reading) with any windows machine - if office 2003 isn't used, you need to install a control.

    Tony,

How do I activate this non-forwarding feature in Outlook 2003 using Word as email editor? Is it done on each individual email or is it a global change?

    Thanks!

It's per mail and you need the enterprise version of office, not retail. There is a toolbar button in outlook with an envelope, red circle and a while block in the middle that activates it.

Thanks for responding. I have the Pro version, not enterprise, so I don't benefit from it. It sure would be a nice feature to have in the regular Outlook.
