CD-RW is CD-R in XP (Win XP SR-1)

I was amazed that Win XP recognized all my hardware and I didn't need to install any drivers as I did with Win98 SE. My CD-RW works great without installing Nero, except that any of the CDs I created as RW [in Nero with Win98SE] are being treated as CD-R in XP. I can't delete or move files. Is it because they were created with Nero? Will I need to install Nero in order to make CDs RW?

    TIA

Are you trying to erase the CD from within Windows? If so, that is the problem - the built-in capabilities in Windows extend only to creating CDs, not erasing and rewriting. You will need to install Nero for full CD-RW functionality. It offers far more flexibility than do the Windows facilities anyway.

    OK That's what I thought.
    Thanks.
