Re: Accounts (2000 SP-3)
Typically, Outlook is in C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice. So, in order to start with a switch go to Start|Run and enter
"C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOfficeOutlook.exe" /CleanReminders
The quotation marks - and the space - are important. Change the file path, if your computer is set up differently.

unkamunda,
Thanks. I had done exactly that but until I heard from you and HansV I wasn't sure I had done it correctly because there was no indication of anything having happened.

Re: Accounts (2000 SP-3)
Just to ask a question. You say you have two accounts. When I make such a setup for myself, I can have 2 or even 5 accounts all set up in the same profile. I log into Outlook and all accounts are checked for me (more or less) simultaneously - even if I have (say) 3 different @ addresses shared between the 5. Why is it that you are having to "switch between" accounts in order to poll them?

unkamunka,
One account is mine and the other is my wife's.

Re: Accounts (2000 SP-3)
Why don't you make a Windows account for your wife, set up Outlook for her email. This way either of you can log in and out of Windows for your own use. You will want to find her pst file and move it to the needed location in her Windows files folders.
The use of Windows 98 profiles has gone away with the use of NT, 2K and now XP.
Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Re: Accounts (2000 SP-3)
DaveA,
She doesn't use this computer that often and the other way has always worked until just this past week.
Thanks for the suggestion.

Re: Accounts (2000 SP-3)
jscher2000,
After trying the 3 suggestions and running Office repair it is still doing the same thing. I guess the next thing would be to try to uninstall and reinstall just Outlook if that is possible.
I just noticed another strange thing that Outlook just started doing yesterday. It is delivering copies of emails I have already received. When I log off the computer and log back on I am getting a copy of an email I already received prior to the latest logon. After I get 2 copies of an email then it stops delivering that email. I do not have the option checked that leaves a copy of the email on the server. It is like Outlook doesn't know it has already received that email. Could this be part of my problem and is there a solution to this problem?
Thanks.

Check you account settings and see whether - leave a copy of the message on the server is UNchecked. If it is not, then uncheck it.

Re: Accounts (2000 SP-3)
unkamunka,
No as I said in my earlier post "leave a copy of the message on the server" is not checked. It's almost like Outlook doesn't know it has already received a certain message. I'll bet there is some switch or setting that is not acting correctly. I just have no idea where to look for it to make the correction.
Thanks.

Re: Accounts (2000 SP-3)
Sorry for not having noted your server setting. Something that does occasionally work is deleting your mail accounts and then reinstating them - no matter how illogical it sounds. If you're familiar with editing the Registry, you might also wish to check - after you've deleted the accounts - that the settings under HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftOfficeOutlook have been affected. Thanks but what do you mean by the above statement? Affected in what way?

Your mail account settings should be stored under this key.
