Re: Accounts (2000 SP-3)
Something is keeping Outlook open after you "close" it (ie: fax, palm pc, Word (as an email editor) or ???), or perhaps, you are not giving it enough time to completely close. I don't know anything about Spam Sleuth, but have you tried to disable/uninstall it and see if the problem goes away? It could be that "SS" is either keeping Outlook open, or causing it to take a lot of time to completely shut down.
Glad to hear that you are making progress. Don't let it drive you batty! (I'm fighting with XP Pro a little myself....frustrating!)

Re: Accounts (2000 SP-3)
Kip,
I agree something has been causing the problem. I hate to claim victory at this early stage but I may just have discovered the culprit. I disabled a piece of software and so far going back and forth 6 times between Outlook accounts, (which is about 5 times more than normal before it acts up) Outlook has closed down completely and I can send and receive from both accounts, as I should be able to do.

Re: Accounts (2000 SP-3)
Glad to hear it. I never seem to remember exactly when I installed new programs, so the System Restore notation trick has come in handy for me as well.
(geez do you get a prize for the length of this thread?)

Re: Accounts (2000 SP-3)
Yes, you may name the problem software. This will allow others using the same software be aware of a possible problem.

Re: Accounts (2000 SP-3)
DaveA,
Unfortunately I am not as sure today as I was yesterday. It is better but not perfect yet. I need to experiment further. If I get a definite culprit I will post it. In the meantime I don't want to give a software problem a bad wrap.

Re: Accounts (2000 SP-3)
My suspicions all point to OmniPage 14 Pro Office. When allowed to start automatically at the time the computer boots up or reboots, I believe it

Re: Accounts (2000 SP-3)
DaveA,
I didn't have the problem and still don't with the machine running version 12. However, I don't know if there is an included FAX program or not. There doesn't appear to be, at least from what I can see but I wouldn't bet my life on it. I don't recognize it if it is there.
Thanks.

Re: Accounts (2000 SP-3)
DaveA,
It has been well over a week and I'm now fairly certain that OmniPage Pro Office version 14 was my problem. My Outlook has not acted up since I took all of OmniPage Pro Office

Re: Accounts (2000 SP-3)
The wife saw this thread and gave me the BOOK to read. I can NOT have the software until my birthday <img src=/S/evilgrin.gif border=0 alt=evilgrin width=15 height=15>
On page 97, "Workflows" item 9, send a email for completed work.
This may be the problem. I see no topic of Workflow in version 12.
Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Re: Accounts (2000 SP-3)
DaveA,
Glad to hear that. Must be a combination of that and something else I have installed but I have had absolutely no problems either since disabling it.
Thanks.
