The domain get-faster.com is registered as follows:

    Hot Bookmark Corp.
    PO BOX 200
    Mexico, non 23546
    MX

But of course this could be completely fictitious. R2 is wise in the ways of browser extensions and can point you to some diagnostics.

    Try this--

It sounds as if you may be bothered by an unstable BHO or have been browser hijacked, or possibly both.

    1) Run Adaware again if you didn't get the latest reference data file by clicking on the globe to the right of it's toolbar. A lot of people don't do this and they might as well not run it if not. That's an old image so that's not the actual latest ref file but the idea is the same.
    2) Also download and run BHO Demon to get rid of or rename if they are needed unstable BHO's.

    Re: Hijacked??? (IE6.0)

    Hi SMBP,

I just downloaded the most recent updates for Ad-Aware, and re-ran the process. Haven't seen anything obviously amiss yet.. but I'll continue to monitor for the next little while.

    Thanks for you advice.

    Rob

Sounds like a BHO -- if the problem recurs, I would definitely run HiJackThis and look at BHO Demon.

    Re: Hijacked??? (IE6.0)

    Just a follow up.

Since downloading the most current updates of Ad-Aware and running the app, none of the symptoms have re-occured.

No one who reads this can see it... but there is a little smile reaching across my face!

    Thanks, for your help.

    Rob.
