OS X Word to MS Word (OSX Word and MS Word 97 or 2000)

Hi. My brother has a mac with Word for OSX on it. He fixed up his resume real pretty like and now he wants to put it on his web page. I told him to send it to me so I could PDF it and put it up but when I look at it on Word 2000 (Win XP) all the prettyness is gone... the fonts, picture and borders (yes, he used a resume template)
My question is, is there any way I can get his document the way he sees it on his mac? He was under the impression that if he purchased Word for the mac he would be able to send it to PC people without a major problem... was he just wrong and now SOL or is there something I can do?
    Thanks

    Hi Katie,
You brother was right - you should be able to open a word for mac document with a PC without any noticable changes. Check out the MS site here which gives some tips.

In my experience 99.9765% of the time problems occur because the Mac users have not used file extensions. Sometimes just adding '.doc' or '.rtf' to the file name clears up any problems.

As Hans noted in his reply to your other post - all Mac applications (not just MS ones) allow you to Print to a PDF file directly from the print dialogue box.

Good Luck and let me know if I can help futher.

Wonderful. I just called my brother and he has deemed me the smartest woman in the world... and I pass those congratulatory remarks on to you... (well, maybe not the woman part, but you know what I mean.) I have to look into why his doc isn't coming up on my PC when I get home, but just knowing about the PDF bit is very exciting. (BTW the other post I made in reference to this was <post#=317668>post 317668</post#>)
Thank you from both of us!!

One other thought: if the font names do not match between his document and your system, he might need to embed them. I believe this is in the Save options (Tools>Options>Save), but that's from (hazy) memory..
