Unwanted Macro disable (office xp)

I am trying to download a file attached to an email. When I try to open the file, the macros are disabled because my security is "too high". When I look at Internet options, I see a medium security. There is no mention in this panel about macros, only talks about Active X and Java.

How can I enable the macros.

    Thanks.

I'm assuming the file is an Excel file. It isn't IE that is the problem, it is Excel. Check the Macro Security of Excel.

OK the macro security and the IE settings are two separate things.

Lets deal with the MS-Excel security.

    1) You are using Excel 2002, and that is good, so you need to go into your Tools menu and choose Macro and then Security

    2) If you set it to Medium, then you will have the option of disabling macros per workbook, vs all the time, or none of the time. Its my favorite setting since I write a lot of macros.

IE on the other hand, has its own security and there are plenty of articles about what is the best practise with it. I'll dig one out and post it for you in a reply.

    Hope this helps

OK I also wanted to add this to my earlier reply:

When you say: I am trying to download a file attached to an email.... and then you say When I try to open the file

OK so I understand that you have managed to detach the attached file from the e-mail message and now you are working with MS-Excel 2002 as opposed to working within Internet Explorer and displaying a MS-Excel workbook.

If you are working within Internet Explorer and displaying a MS-Excel workbook, I am not sure if you could have the macros running in this situation. So its best to detach and work in MS-Excel.

Just thought of that as I was reading my post.
