go back to the programs tab and set outlook express to be the mailer, then apply. repeat, using outlook and apply. might want to test a link after making OE the default - just to see if it changed it.

If Mary's suggestion does not work, you'll have to go into a window, any window, unmder tools, folder options, File types and re-associate the links to IE

Re: E-Mail LInk Problem

Thanks for the suggestions Mike and MaryJ. Unfortunately I couldn't find any menus in Outlook that allowd me to specify internet options. As for your suggestion Mike, I went into SETTINGS, FOLDER OPTIONS, FILE TYPES, and located the MAILtoURL PROTOCOL file type and changed the path of the program to be lauched however I now get the following message:
THE COMMAND LINE ARGUMENT IS NOT VALID. VERIFY THE SWITCH YOU ARE USING.
I navigated to the OUTLOOK.EXE command line. There isn't a switch in the command line to launch Outlook's MAILto program but I guess I should have one. Any suggestions as to what the switch should be. At least I've made some progress thanks to you 2.

I think you misunderstood Mary. Go to Control Panel/Internet Options or open IE & go to Tools/Internet Options (same thing). THEN go to the programs tab. That is where you set your default email program.

Hope this helps.

Re: E-Mail LInk Problem

Thanks Phil. Setting the e-mail program in the PROGRAM tab under Internet options was something I did before my first post. Perhaps I did misunderstand MaryJ but I concluded from her e-mail that there was a similar setting in Outlook or Outlook Express and that I should also perform this task there. This is where I was stumped. Thanks for your post. Any suggestions on the switch I should insert after the Outlook command line? (see my last post).

HAH! So far so good. Although I got an error message that the command couldn't be performed because the default e-mail program was not properly installed it still worked!!! YAAHHH!! Thanks Mike. I'll try to work out getting rid of the error message.

Re: E-Mail LInk Problem

Thanks. I don't know much about these things, however, ever since I rebooted my PC my keyboard is changed around. It now works as an international keyboard with all kinds of accented letters where the punctuation marks used to be and the apostrophe and other punctuation marks are moved around or dissappeared. I'll mess with the switches a bit but I'm really in the dark wth regards to that stuff. Any advice? Thanks again. BTW, my name is Louis and I appreciate all your help Mike.

Re: E-Mail LInk Problem

Have had the same problem with looking for PROGRAM.EXE
I had uninstalled my netscape 4.something, which was default browser after I was unable to make IE 5.something check that it was default. After that everything that before would have launched a browser before told me it couldn't find Program.exe.
Thanks to these messages I have gone through all file types and found 6 extensions under URL near the bottom of the list which were unassociated. Actually I found many extensions which were unassociated, but only those were 'Internet' types.
To fix, I highlighted just the program name and path I left the switches alone and then browsed to the new location for my browser.
Woody's lounge to the rescue again!
Thanks
