Zip Backup (WinXP Home Edition)

Hi: I received an email from Woody's E-Mail essentials regarding Zip Backup. I am always losing important information due to XP crashes, so I was wondering how effective Zip Backup is. Also does anyone know where I would back up the files to? A CD Rom perhaps? Thanks

Well, no offense to Da Boss, but in my opinion Zip Backup leaves a lot to be desired. In Woody's parlance, it's an ad. I also think that other Loungers had trouble with it as I did. If you aren't already in possession of another backup program, you ought to check out the web for other alternatives. Here's a place to start your search.

Re: Zip Backup (WinXP Home Edition)

I've been using Backup NOW! for some time and I do nightly backups of selected files only. I don't use it for complete system backup. It's normal price is $70 and I think they call that the Deluxe package because it will not only do selected files (the GUI is click-to-pick the files - nice) but purports to be a full disk imaging program. Well, at the time I bought it, they had a $50 version for file backup only, i.e. it doesn't do imaging. I now can't find that on their web pages. You might have to write them to ask if they still have the file level backup price. It's claim to fame is backup to CD, but I do my nightlies to a machine on my home LAN.

Yes, it's tough to find a backup program that works the way you want it to and REALLY works. I've tried so many I lost count. Good luck in your search.....

Edited by WyllyWylly to add URL code.

Try evaluating Backup+ from Avantrix. I've been using this for three years so far and I think it is very good.
