    Filling in webforms (IE 6.0.28)

We have 6 users who accept customer payments using an online credit card payment site. Three of the users have no problems filling out the forms and going back to correct errors on the forms. Three of the users have a problem ... if they enter data in the form and submit the data and the data is incorrect, the program tells them to click the back button to correct the errors. When they do, all the existing data is erased from the form. The website webmaster tells us this is a setting on our end since 3 of the users don't have that problem and 3 do. The way it's supposed to work is that they can go back and edit/correct the fields without losing the existing data.

Ok. So if this is an internet option, where do I look? I compared all of the Tools/Options/Advanced with the ones that work, and all these settings are the same. Where else can I look to see what controls whether data is retained in the fields or not?

By the way .. the website is Bank of America and their tech support is absolutely no help to us. They said it's something in our system. grrr

Check the way pages are refreshed under Tools>Internet Options...>[Temporary Internet Files]>Settings... button.

For Lounge purposes, we suggest at the top "always" refreshing, but this could cause problems with dynamically generated sites.

I use the setting "Automatic" and find the results to be inconsistent from site to site. Some retain entered data on Back while others lose it.

The Bank's not completely innocent if they set the "no cache" tag in the page's headers. But I assume they know that. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

Well, I checked, and it was set to Automatically. So, I change it to always. DIdn't work. Changed it back to Automatically. It's weird that it works fine on 1/2 the pc's but not on all of them. I verified all settings in the Advanced Options tab. They are the same on all PCs. Page refresh settings are all set to Automatically. Any other hidden places I can look. I also re-installed Internet Explorer on the non-working PCs. That didn't help. All the PCs have the same version of IE (6.0.2800 sp1). If a user from one of the non-working PCs logs onto a working PC, it works fine. So, I know it's machine specific. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Is there anything in the registry that would affect this?

Just a stab in the dark. Try Tools | Internet Options | Advanced | Security - and check how "Do not save encrypted pages to disk" is checked on the various machines.

They are all the same.. no check mark beside "do no save encrypted pages." Thanks for the idea. Any other ideas?
