    Service Releases (2000)

I have just taken the plunge and reinstalled Windows 98 and everything else on my PC. So with Office 2000 I am now back to the original version. I had previously downloaded all the service releases up to and including SR 3. I presume that I can't go straight for SR 3, and must get some of the others first. Which ones?

Go ahead and try SR-3. If SR-1 is required before you can install SR-3, the installer will let you know, loud and clear. You should not need SP2; in MS Office parlance, the SPs are superseded by the SRs.

    Ian--

You need to get the Service Packs starting at SP1, and then use your judgement as to whether you want to install up through SP4. If you go to the MSKB Office 2000 and search for "service packs" you will come up with about 20 KB's that detail the fixes for Office 2K components/applications or as Mr. Gates called them at the last Office launch "modules:"

This may help you. I didn't use Office 2000, and I'm sure Jefferson and a number of others are very familiar with the ins and outs, quirks, advantages, downsides of the different SR's and Service Packs. Woody does a good job of getting into the service packs so you might read up his Office Watch newsletters and search by SR or Service Pack.
