WinTidy 95

    Name: WinTidy 95 v1.1

Free. And no bad side effects.

This is an old (1997) utility from PC Magazine by Neil Rubenking & works in Win98 also, and probably other OS. You can save numerous icon configurations on your desktop, even at different resolutions, & restore their order with a click of a button. Ever boot into Safe Mode & see what a mess it made of your desktop or change resolutions. I've used this utility for years & highly recommend it.

P.S. I don't keep it running all the time because I don't screw up my icons all that often. But it's only a click away.

I like Melissa Nguyen's EZDesk best. I've been using it since 95 and it's always one of the first things I install.

    Hi Eileen:

I've heard of it. I only run WinTidy when the icons screw up. Does EZDesk use use much resources & do you run it all the time?

It sits in the System Tray and I've set it to automatically restore at startup and when I change resolution and save when I shut down. I've never really checked what resources it uses but it's never been any trouble.
