    screen brightness (windows xp pro)

Is there an easy way to reduce the screen brightness?

We are using a Dell ultrasharp 1800 flat panel, set at maximum resolution.

One of us likes the very bright image, the other finds it uncomfortably bright.

    Thanks

Use the controls at the bottom of the flatpanel screen. I don't think that there is a software setting in Windows XP for screen brightness.

Hans is correct, there are no native controls in Windows for screen brightness. Depending on the manufacturer of your video board, though, there may be hope yet. Both ATI and Nvidia aftermarket add-in cards have this capability. Check the advanced settings in your Display Properties. Nvidia's driver set adds a little icon in the system tray for tweaking this. You may need to update your video card software to obtain these features.

If all else fails, sunglasses might do the trick. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

Get a Glare Screen and tint it. Put it on when you use it, take it off when she uses it.
