    Printing (Word 2002 (10.5522.4219) SP2)

We have users assembling documents with HotDocs6, which generate Word documents, which in turn are integrated with iManage. Unless users select Print Preview, they are unaware that not all text will print. The issue is intermittent. The iManage knowledgebase located a Microsoft article pointing to a known issue and requiring a phone call to Microsoft for the known hotfix. Only affected workstations were to have the fix applied. The fix did not fix the issue. As a short-term solution, I have changed default printer drivers on two user workstations to LaserJet 4, universal driver. Has anyone else run across this?

What kind of text doesn't print? Is it related to hidden text/comments/text boxes? Can you post a generic example (generic meaning, not containing client information), and indicate which parts do and do not print? (For the latter, maybe you can capture a printout to PDF.)

Sorry to generate more work, but this is all rather mysterious otherwise. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

The answer is ANY kind of text. The issue is intermittent and cannot be replicated but does occur. This is not hidden text, comment matter or altered page margins. Sometimes the missing text is just a line or two; sometimes it is half of the page vertically. Microsoft understands that this is a random occurrence and, when I reported that the hotfix did not fix the issue, has asked that I rename my normal template, rename my Word registry key and hollow out startup and template folders or simply wait for the next service release. This is not possible for 547 users with a string of templates and add-ins loaded to ease a migration from WordPerfect. As I stated before, the only "fix" is to close out of Word/iManage and then reopen. One of our consultants thought it was the printer driver used. HP points at Microsoft; and Microsoft points at HP with respect to printer drivers. The only stability I've been able to bring to two guinea pig users is to install a LaserJet 4 driver, but I cannot believe this is our only out. Thanks for your response. If I can capture a screenshot as it is happening, I will certainly post it.
