    Moving on up (95/97/2000)

New PC running XP. Also upgrading to Office 2000 Professional from Office 95 Pro thro' Office 97 Pro. As I understand it I need to install each one in order to upgrade to the next one.

The question is - can I install just one or two components to 'qualify' for the next upgrade? Or is there a minimum set of tools (Word, Excel) that must be installed?

Hope this makes sense - and thanks.

You do not need to install either 95 or 97. When the 2000 installer says it can NOT find the product, just remove your 2K CD, place 97 CD in reader, tell installer where to find product. After installer finds product remove 97 CD and replace 2K CD.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

I concur - My Office 2K installation is an upgrade from Office 4.2/4.3, and all I needed to do was to insert the 1st floppy disk from the old version into the A:drive before the 'upgrade' would do what was effectively a clean install.

    Cheers
