when closing database getting a replica (2000)

We are having some problems when we close a database that it is creating another replica of this database. Is there a user setting in access that needs to be changed to stop this? Please explain....
    THANKS in advance

Re: when closing database getting a replica (2000)

Has Compact on Close been set for this database? It is a setting in the General tab of Tools | Options...

If so, Access will create a compacted copy when the database is closed, then try to delete the original and delete the copy. If the original can't be deleted for some reason, you'll end up with a compacted and a non-compacted copy. So check if the user has sufficient permissions to delete the database; this can be a file-level or folder-level permission.
