Opening db locally and Online (Access 2000)

Is it not possable to open an Access 2000 database online and locally at the same time? I have user who submit forms information online, but I also have people who access that information at the same time locally. The database is split up with tables on the server, and the forms/reports/querys are on each local machine. If not, how can I get around this

What exactly do you mean by "online"? Are you talking about a VPN, Terminal Server, or what?

I just have a website that uses Access as a backend. Users submit information on the web through a form. Local users use Access forms to view and modify the data. When local users are viewing the data, online users get locked out. The error message on the web states that the file is already in use. There are no ocks and it is opened as shared

That suggests to me that it is being opened exclusively by whatever method you are using to make it accessible on the web. Are you using ASP or is it some other method?

The web portion is build in ASP.net. The site is hosted on IIS Server 6.0

It appears that there is no option when you open a database from the web that lets you set the Exclusive/Shared option, so it apparently is being set in the common code that runs as an extension of the Web Server package. Are you running IIS on a local PC, or is this being done from an ISP somewhere else, or is it some other type of Web Server? Also I'm not sure I understand what happens in the following scenario. If local users are in the database already, what happens when a web-based user tries to access the database?

I think I finally got it. I never had the right permissions set for the "user" account> Eventhough web users user IUSR... and I have myown group for here, I still had to set the user account permission. Thanks for the help
