    Outlook 2000 - Rules Problem (SP3)

I have rules set-up on Outlook 2000 to check emails as they arrive and move them to appropriate folders. Increasingly, the rules both move a copy of the email AND leave it in the inbox - defeating the purpose. The rules are definitely set up to move (not copy). Gradually over time, the problem is getting worse with more rules leaving a copy in the inbox.

I know this has been talked about before, but I can't find the reference to it. I'm not using Exchange - its standalone internet only configuration.

    Any help appreciated.

Do you have "stop processing more rules" listed as one of the actions the rule takes? I think that was mentioned in one thread.

No I don't, but wouldn't that stop subsequent rules from being processed? Eg. Rule 1 says if from mail sender 1 or mail sender 2, then move to folder 1. Rule 2 says if from mail sender 3, move to folder 2, etc etc. As I understand it, a stop processing more rules instruction at the end of Rule 1 would then stop Rule 2 from being executed.

I'm sure I've seen somewhere, information about a corruption of rules in Outlook and a way to reconstruct them.

"Stop processing rules" only applies to the item the Rule works on. If other Rules apply to other items, they will still operate.
