Connecting Win 98SE to 2000 Server

I have a laptop running Win 98SE & have been connecting to the company's Win 2000 server for some time.

I have just returned from a trip & can no longer connect in the office, although I can still connect by via dial-up.

    I should appreciate any suggestions.

    Many thanks,

    Kevin Duck

Sounds like you (or some helpful person on your trip) changed one or more network settings. Unless you did the original setup yourself, it sounds like perhaps you need to have your IT folks take a look at your Network settings.

    Thanks.

Unfortunately, we don't have an IT person.

Whilst on the trip, I connected to the free T1 service in the hotel, maybe this changed it?

However, I went into Control Panel>Networking & deleted everything & then let the computer set everything up when I restarted, but with the same result.

Ouch! Well, we'd need to know some things about your "work" environment in order to advise you on what to do - is it a workgroup or domain; does your work network use DHCP or explicit IP address assignment; same question for DNS server, and so on. Surely there must be someone at your office who "controls" all these decisions, isn't there? By the way, this is for future reference, but I've used NetSwitcher for several years to maintain multiple sets of networking criteria on laptops. It's only $14 US and works like a charm. But, that's the future. Can you get us any information in order to help you, or maybe even "compare" settings with a co-worker to see what needs to be done?

    Thanks for your response.

I played around with some of the settings & I can now connect again!
