I wonder if XP Home Edition has the same backup features as in XP Prof.

    Thanks

Yes, but is NOT installed by default. One MUST load from the CD.

    By the way, I would NOT use it <img src=/S/bwaaah.gif border=0 alt=bwaaah width=123 height=15>

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

I will second Dave on his sentiments...the backup facilities provided with Windows XP are typical of bundled Microsoft applications. That is, brain dead, watered down, and almost useful. You would do well to seek out alternate options.

Yes, identical. Every bit as brain dead and watered down. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

Short, and yet so true! Almost useful!

Well, since the question was about differences between Home and Pro Backup features I thought might also mention ASR; I have not used "MS Backup" so some of you might know more. As to backup there is no difference. Then we have this new ASR (Automated System Recovery), that makes it possible, if backups are prepared, to restore system configuration (it back up /restore data on System volume only). This feature, ASR, is not available in XP Home. As I understand it, you will be able to create ASR backups but you can not restore them on Home systems, thus it's almost useful ...

Even if had XP Pro I would not use it.

    Regards,

I have never tried ASR. Always meant to, just so I could see how well it works, but there are so many better ways to protect your data...
