    Postcards & Mail Megere (2000/SP-3)

Because Publisher 2000 is so weak when it comes to mail merge, I need to create a postcard in Word that prints the mailing side.

I am trying to create a document that has two 8.5 x 5.5 cards on one sheet of 8.5 x 11 paper. I need to merge a mailing list into it and want only one card per person in the list.

I assume I need to create the document using the label feature but am having difficulty. Anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Will

    Select Tools | Merge Documents...
In the first step, select Labels.
In the second step, select your data source.
You will then be asked to set up your label
Perhaps Avery 3260, Avery 3611, Avery 5389, or Avery 8389 will do, otherwise, customize one of these to suit your purpose by selecting it in the list, then clicking New...
When you have selected/created a label with the correct dimensions, continue.

If you choose the Avery 3260 as one of the standard label types for your main document, it creates a 4" x 7" card with margins that aren't too different from what you want. If you can't position the address info adequately on the main document, then what you are dealing with is a Word table where you can adjust the row and column sizes to meet your requirements. Have a go at it, and if you run into difficulty post back - I'm sure someone here can give you further help.

Thanks, I looked at labels you suggested and found all the information I needed to create exactly what I was looking for. It's amazing how easy it is once you see how a label is created.

Thanks, that's exactly what I ended up doing. I appreciate your help.
