How to move an ISO file to CD on XP

    All,

I have an ISO file which is an image of a CD. I am trying to move it to a CD, but so far have only succeeded in copying it to the CD (it appears as "filename.iso") rather than all of the files making up the image. I lost my copy of EasyCD when I upgraded to XP a few weeks back. I now have a freeware program called Burn4Free, but I haven't figured out how to use it. Any help out there?

Does Burn4Free support writing ISO files? You might look around for a special on Nero 6 or the EZCD suite.

There is also this nifty little power toy called IsoRecorder that adds a right-click Copy Image to CD option to ISO files. You can burn it to CD the way you want using it.

While on the subject, I Downloaded Knoppix 3.3 as an ISO and burned it to disk via Roxio 5 and the disk will not boot to any PC. Any ideas?

First step, ensure the CD is good by accessing it in a known-working Operating System. In Windows, it should auto load a webpage from the CD.

Make sure the BIOS is setup to allow CD-ROM booting.

Failing that, there is an option on the Knoppix CD to create a boot floppy which will then allow you to boot into the Knoppix CD Distro. Sorry, but I don't have a Knoppix CD handy to specifically say where the process is located.

Did you close and finalize the session on the disc when you burned it?
