Numbers That Won't Format (Excel 2000)

I have a file that contains numbers in cells. However, you can't format the numbers, can't add them .... unless you go to the formular bar, put the cursor there and press "enter" one by one, then these "numbers" become numbers. Am I doing something wrong ? A file is attached.

The "numbers" in your file are interpreted as text by Excel. To convert them to numbers in a simple operation do th efollowing :

    1 Enter 1 in a blank cell

2 Format that cell with the formatting you want to apply to the column(s)

    3 Copy the cell

4 Select the column(s) you want to convert,

5 Do a PasteSpecial and select the Multiply Operation.

You should now have your numbers appearing the way you want, and behaving as numbers.
