grey word art (Word 2002 (XP))

    Good afternoon,

In a Word document a user of mine tries to make use of WordArt.
When he does, in stead of the beautiful coloured word-art, everything appears in greyscales.
(as well as in the normalview, weblayoutview etc.)
The strange thing is, that when he prints this particular document the words are in colour! Wow!

Can anybody tell me why this is happening?

    Many thanks in advance!

I'm not sure, but you might check the display settings on the user's PC.
    - Right-click an empty part of the desktop.
    - Select Properties.
    - Activate the Settings tab.
    - Click Advanced
Depending on the video card and monitor, the contents of the dialog may vary, but there probably is a slider for Hardware Acceleration. Try sliding it to the left and see if that solves the problem.

Also, if your friend has "View-Header and Footer" open when inserting the WordArt, Word will probably think it is a watermark, and will gray it out, or will at least mute its colors onscreen, when not in "View-Header and Footer."

Word's intention here, I believe, is for the watermark to appear subtly behind the text in the body of the doc, so as not to interfere with readability. Also, my printer options show some settings specific to watermarks -- so you might check the printer settings too. Maybe the printer driver is in charge here.

Also check the defauly printer, if it is a "Generic" printer. If so select a different printer.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.
