    archiving Outlook (xp)

I found this in another forum and knew you guys would have a quick answer (BTW, the 'Search' button up top gives me a 404 <img src=/S/confused.gif border=0 alt=confused width=15 height=20> )
<hr>I have a nasty habit of keeping email in outlook for a looooonnng time. After a while outlook become a bit less responsive. What software (freeware or otherwise) can you recommend to export not only the email but the outlook folder/tree structure as well?

I remember reading something on sourceforge about a kludge application to convert the outlook PST file into HTML or some such. What programs have any of you had good (preferably painless) experience with?

I don't want to delete my email, and I don't want to archive it in a format that requires any particular software, so out to HTML or PDF, or open standards type format is a must. It would be an added plus if the output format was easily searchable.

thanks in advance for your help <hr>

Search has been down for more than 7 months, see the announcements in the Words From On High forum.

You can create multiple .pst files and copy or move entire folders with their subfolders from one .pst file to another. The .pst files can be displayed and searched in Outlook itself. To create a new one in Outlook 2002, select File | New | Outlook Data File.

Don't forget to tell the original poster where the answers to such things can be found! <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

Plan B: Outlook Express can import mail from an Outlook PST, and there are a variety of tools out there to convert Outlook Express mailboxes to less proprietary formats.

    It's always good to have a backup plan <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>
I'll share this idea and, eventually, post back with what the original poster "finds" as a solution.
