    Auto Update Charts (Access 2K)

    I am trying to find the best way to display Access generated reports that will automatically update when the database file is updated. This would be for a project status type chart that will refresh every few minutes with the new data.

    Any ideas? Can this "auto update" be done in Access?

    Thanks,

    BB

    The only way I can think of is not very elegant, and will probably have negative side-effects.
    - Create a form
    - Set its TimerInterval to the number of milliseconds between refreshes, for example if you want to refresh every two minutes, use 2 * 60 * 1000 = 120000.
    - Create code in the On Timer event of the form to close and reopen the report:

    Private Sub Form_Timer()
    Echo False
    DoCmd.Close acReport, "ReportName", acViewPreview
    DoCmd.OpenReport "ReportName", acViewPreview
    Echo True
    End Sub

    I haven't tried to find out what happens if the On Timer event occurs while the user is printing it.
