    FORUMS

What are some other forums similar to Woody's Lounge that would be recommended. Is there any way to get a list of forums out there?

    Re: FORUMS

Ain't nothing out there like the Lounge. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15> There are several self-help forums, such as Annoyances.org for starters (forums are on the left hand sidebar). Many tech enthusiast websites have their own forum systems, but to be honest, the only other one that I spend any time on is Expert's Exchange. Many are filled with teenage boys arguing about whose computer is the fastest.

    Re: FORUMS

Google indexes many of them, so if there is a particular subject of interest, a search often will lead to a post and thus to a board. This is a somewhat random approach, but you can use it to supplement any actual recommendations. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

    Re: FORUMS

Not really in the same league as Woody's, but there are numerous forums listed here. There's lots of other really good stuff on List of Lists BTW.

Like the ensemble says, there ain't none like this-a-one, mate! But I sometimes pay a visit to Scot Finnie's forum. Scot's a long-time computer journalist and his board is pretty good. I also think that another of Scot's writer sidekicks, Fred Langa is planning to start a forum-type online discussion mechanism, but it isn't up yet. You'll see a place-holder link for it on his web site.

You might find this list of forums, below, of value. I know I often come to the Word forum and the Excel forum, but as the group says, Woody's is the best <img src=/S/clapping.gif border=0 alt=clapping width=19 height=23> - always come here when my Help desk 2nd and 3rd level support cannot help me. Edited by WyllyWylly to add URL tags. See the markup help. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

I have gone to http://www.tek-tips.com/supportus.cfm and found lots of answers. It is huge. I'm a regular at http://www.pcqanda.com much more like a family type forum. Wherever you feel comfortable is a good forum.

    Hi Mark,

I did a quick check on Experts Exchange. Looks like a good one. I added it to my fav list.

    Thanks for the link. <img src=/S/thankyou.gif border=0 alt=thankyou width=40 height=15>

    Re: FORUMS

OK, let's just how good the Lounge is for discussing algorithms.

I will shortly put a post about Sorting in the VB/VBA forum to see just what kind of discussion gets generated.

    Re: FORUMS

I am certain there will be a lively discussion on algorithms once standards for discussing them are established. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

<P ID="edit" class=small>(Edited by bigaldoc on 22-Jan-04 20:05. Edited to fix the URL code for Jeff.)</P>Similar? Well, the Lounge is rather unique in that it offers information about a wide range of things. However, for computers in general with a very high degree of professionalism and expert advice, there is only one other I would/could recommend, PC Q&A found here: http://www.pcqanda.com/dc/dcboard.php . The depth of expertise there is impressive.
