Blaster.e worm (IE6)

I have just received a few worms, blaster.c blaster.e being two of them. My anti virus software got them but I am worried that something may have happened. Can somone enlighten me as to what these viruses do?

See for instance W32.Blaster.C.Worm and W32.Blaster.E.Worm on the Symantec site.

A quick search with Google using the names of these nasties as the search terms is usually all it takes to educate yourself.

Thanks I'll keep this in mind next time.

I was pretty stressed out about this as it would either freeze the computer or just do a shutdown on me. So it was hard to work out just how to get the info required before it shut me off.

Thanks Hans, look at the other post for my response.
As it turns out I had to lock out the shutdowns and download FixBlast.exe which finally fixed the problem.
I had visions of formatting the c: drive then reinstalling XP and other stuff, but I had some luck this time in getting rid of it.

I understand, I had a close friend call me wondering how in the world he was supposed to update his online finances before the thing rebooted. As it turned out, a friend of his was surfing the web, using administrative privileges. Removing the bug was no fun.

If you have skill writing computer code, I fail to see where making others' lives miserable is rewarding. Oy, I digress. Are you safe now?

Good health is good news. I apologise if I came off sounding sanctimonious in my initial post; it was less than helpful.

I agree wholeheartedly re your comment about making other's lives miserable, words just fail to describe these people.

I'm now quite safe, thank you.

Don't apologise Mark, it was good advice, I do tend to ask before using google.

However as I said I was a bit stressed at the time. Trying to work out how to download the path and fix before being frozen or shutdown was really getting to me.

Google is probably the best and fastest way to search this out, and it will link you to sites of the Antiviral program makers like Norton, Trend, ect. who will have detailed info and removal tools for most of these you encounter.
