relationships in FE BE Schema (2K/XP)

I am actually embarrassed to ask this, but where do you need to create the relationships in a FE BE setup, in the linked tables FE or the actual table in the BE? I understand that the cascade deletes etc. should follow through, but otherwise does it make a difference?
    Thanks

You should set relationships in the backend database, where the physical tables reside.

Relationships (and security) should be set up in the BackEnd - but you aren't the first person to ask that question. If you connect to a BE with relationships, you will see the same relationships displayed in the FE, but you cannot edit them. If you establish relationships in the FE, it's not obvious whether they will be valid - I've seen it make a many to many join through a linking table not be correct. Also, it wil not let you modify the relationships in a BE database from the FE - it gives you an error message that says you cannot delete relationships between linked tables.
