Direct Connection

I am not sure if this is the right place for this, but I will try. I have an older machine, 450Mhz running Windows 98, and have just purchased a new machine running Win 2K. I am able to establish a direct connection using a data cable and the LPT1 ports. I have the W2k machine set up as the guest and the W98 machine as the host as I want to move files from the W98 machine to the W2K machine. The step I seem to be missing is how do I "see" the C-drive on the host machine and move stuff from there to the guest machine? Any help that anyone can provide to make this happen will be greatly appreciated. TIA.

Re: Direct Connection

I do NOT know about the direct connection, but on a p2p network, you have to "Share" each drive that you want to be able to access from the other computers.

Also, I have found that using Windows 98 on one machine and Windows 2000 with a user log on, I do my copying using the 2000 machine. I use Windows Explorer on the 2000 machine, dragging the folders and/or files from the right hand frame to the drive folder in the left hand frame.

Windows 2000 does NOT like 'Quest' going into the user folder from a Windows 98 machine.
Lot's of fun.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Re: Direct Connection

Thanks Dave. I have set up the shared directories on the Host computer using the file sharing facilities and they seem to set up okay. I will be copying to the W2K machine from the W98 machine. I just cannnot figure out how to make the W98 files visible on the W2K machine. That is the step I am missing, or at least am unclear about. TIA.
