I recently installed a new HP 2110 (3 in one printer). I now get a Stimon Error (on startup): "This program has preformed an illegal operation and will be shut down."
What is wrong and is there a solution?
Thank you

Is this when you start up Word or Windows? Methinks perhaps I should slide this thread over to the Hardware board if it's not Word-specific.
Yes, the Stimon error window appears while computer is booting up.
Thank you
The HP website has an article that describes these symptoms with Windows98 and ME and suggests renaming STIMON and removing STIMON from the RUN registry key! Seems a bit drastic to me.
What version of Windows are you using?

Thanks Stuart for Replying.
I am running Windows 98.
The error is: STIMON: The program has preformed an illegal operation and will be shut down.
I suggest you search http://www.hp.com for "STIMON Illegal Operation windows98" and follow the instructions in the article you find there. I can't post a pointer because that site seems to keep some sort of session identifier in the url. (You can try the URL I used if you want, it may work)

You can probably kill the error message by running Msconfig ( Start- Run - msconfig ) and clearing the check mark form stillimagemonitor in the startup tab - this may disable the scan button on the printer but the HP Director scan buttons will still work.
