    windows media player

Being a newbie I'm not sure in which section this should be posted.
Ms Windows media player v 9.0 (WMP9) running on Windows 2000 appears to keep a list of all my mp3's played and also those mp3's which previously existed on my hard drive.
I am wanting to remove these elements and records from my hard drive permanently.
After deleting my mp3's from the hard drive I have tried to uninstall and then reinstall WMP9 but the records remain.
I have tried to physically remove the registry items for under Hkey users - software -microsoft-media player and Hkey local machine - software - microsoft - media player.
    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Re: windows media player

There are some settings in Tools | Options... that are related to this:
    - In the Player tab, there is a setting to add musuc to the Media Library
    - In the Privacy tab, there is a setting to store file and URL history, and a button to clear this history.

Some settings for Media Player are stored in files in
    Cocuments and Settings<username>Application DataMicrosoftMedia Player
    and in
Cocuments and Settings<username>Local SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftMedia Player
    (this is on Windows XP)
