MS- Explorer Problem (Window XP Home SP1)

I can not connect to certain sites like Paypal using MS Explorer 6.0. It comes up "The page cannot be displayed". This problem started since I removed scumware using Adware. I have taken the following steps"
    - Restored all MS-Explorer options back to defaults
    - Remove all MS-Explorer history, cookies and temporary files
    - Made sure cipher strenght is 128-bit
    - In options i have ensured that 'Use SSL 2.0', 'Use SSL 3.0' and 'Use TLS 1.0' are active

I downloaded and installed Netscape. It gives me the error message "The connection was refused when attempting to connect to www.paytpal.com"

    ANy suggestions? Thanks! Byron

I haven't used AdAware. Could you it blocking cookies from PayPal, or otherwise interfering with normal browser operations?

Have you checked to make sure PayPal was not added to your list of restricted sites in IE? The fact that Netscape is giving you the same error leads me to believe it is not necessarily a browser specific problem. Also, do you have any other sites that you can provide as an example?

I checked Ad-Ware and it does not stop cookies. Thanks!

Mark, I have no restricted sites and this appears to be happening with just PayPal. Regards

What happens if you open a command prompt (Start - Run - CMD) and enter ping paypal.com? Do you get a response, or does it time out?
