Malicious Hyperlinks Spoof Affects Mozilla FB .6 (Mozilla Firebird .6)

Posted because there is no MS sanctioned fix for this but the links and KB explain well that some hyperlinks in IE and Mozailla when Mozilla runs on both Windows and Linux boxes can be malicious hyperlink spoofs.

See URL spoofing flaw could be used in bank scams

and this lounge thread from the IE neighborhood:

Before you start posting these kinds of items in the Lounge, please test them - no matter who they are sourced to! How often do you actually use Mozilla?

In Mozilla Firebird 0.7, the "real" URL shows in the Address Bar - not the spoofed one. Considering that there are @ signs in the URL, it stands out quite clearly.

Cross posted in the Internet Explorer forum. Please direct all replies there.

And, for the record, I can confirm that Mozilla does not suffer from this bug, it is IE only. Unkamunka's recommendation to test such information for substantive fact before posting it is good advice. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>
