    Flag Removal (2002 SP1)

    Good day ladies and gents. I have a quick question(?) for you. I deal alot with sales reps and attachments. I set up a rule to flag an automatic follow-up 1 business day after I receive an attachment. During the installation of this rule, I had inadvertently had it run on a folder of archived materials. <img src=/S/doh.gif border=0 alt=doh width=15 height=15> I know have some 132 e-mails flagged. Is there some way to quickly unflag an entire folder (or at least a good chunk of it), or will I have to go to each message.
    My Outlook macro skills are not up to par, so I hadn't ventured in that direction... yet.
    Thanks.

    Can you write a rule to do the reverse and run that rule on the folder? If so, would be faster than writing a macro, for sure.

    I don't know a manual way to bulk remove flags. Try this untested code on a -copy- of the folder. If it works, run it on the live folder.

    Sub RemoveFolderMsgFlags()
    Dim nsNS As NameSpace
    Dim fldrSel As MAPIFolder
    Dim itmMessage As MailItem

    Set nsNS = Application.GetNamespace("MAPI")
    On Error Resume Next
    Set fldrSel = nsNS.PickFolder

    If Not fldrSel Is Nothing Then
    If fldrSel.DefaultItemType = olMailItem Then
    For Each itmMessage In fldrSel.Items
    itmMessage.FlagStatus = olNoFlag
    itmMessage.Save
    Next itmMessage
    Else
    MsgBox "Select a Message Folder"
    End If
    End If

    Set itmMessage = Nothing
    Set fldrSel = Nothing
    Set nsNS = Nothing
    End Sub

    Faster than me doing it, I guess would be the more honest answer. <img src=/S/laugh.gif border=0 alt=laugh width=15 height=15>

    Alright, I did copy and paste macro - and I must admit, even thought I have dabbled in VBA macros it still amazes me how you guys (them thar lounge experts) can come up with the coding so fast, I did I complete - DoH ! <img src=/S/doh.gif border=0 alt=doh width=15 height=15> when your idea of using the Rules Wizard was given. Sure enough, it did the trick.
    Sorry John, I did not have a chance to do a speed test to see which idea was faster, but I thank you both for your prompt replies!

    Actually I need to learn to use Rules better, as I would not have thought of a Rule method. (Or, obviously, I didn't think of a Rule method!)
