    Workbook Links (excel sr1)

    Hello,
I have two workbooks that are linked. Wbk A is the source data (Hard numbers) and wbk B is the linked data (soft numbers). Here is my problem. When I am working with only A open and I insert a line then save and close, wbk B (not open) does not insert that line. Now, when I go and open B all my data has shifted by a line.

Is there some clever way around this?

If possible, the best solution would be to have everything in one workbook. Then instead of Links you could use worksheet formulas (more reliable) and Excel's "Grouping" making the job of managing data much easier. If you cannot combine the data of both workbooks into one workbook the only solution would be some type of Macro but that could get complex.

A possibility could be to use Named Ranges instead of cell references to link to in Workbook A. Your data, however, may not lend itself to that.

Another way is to use INDEX giving the range, row, and column. This should not be affected by inserting/deleting rows or columns, so you might have to increase or decrease the number of formulas.
