Embeded Images in Outlook Messages (OL 2000 and >)

    <img src=/S/hello.gif border=0 alt=hello width=25 height=29> Loungers

Is it possible to detach which e-mail message has an embedded image in its body?

Some Yahoo and Hotmail messages come with some sort of an advertisement, and some have huge images embedded, NOT attached.

Now Outlook 2003 gives you the message "<font color=blue>Click here to download pictures...</font color=blue>" which is good, but some times there are other objects such as dropdowns.

I tried looking into .Body and figure out if I can tell if its text or something else, and I got to the point where all messages had some text so therefore all of them passed the test.

Is there a way to search for the "<font color=blue>Click here to download pictures...</font color=blue>" and see if I can isolate these messages?

I need to do this to reduce the .PST file by not having anything we don't need in it.

    TIA

Do you want to save the image? Saving embedded images in Outlook is messy, see the recent thread here on that.

If you don't need to save it, or after you save it, you can remove it thusly:

    <UL><LI>Edit>Edit Message
<LI>Click the image and press the Delete key
<LI>Save and close the message[/list]I don't know the steps if you are using Word as your mail editor.

I may have misread your message. You probably meant "detect" rather than "detach." HTML message bodies will contain an IMG SRC="cid:..."-type tag for embedded images, instead of the usual SRC="http://..." for linked images. If you are using VBA, you could try searching the .HTMLBody for those tags. I haven't tested this.
