Excuse my ignorance, but how does one reply to the thread as opposed to an individual?

In the right corner or the thread, there's a bunch of graphics. mouse over them and the bottom row, last one is reply.

    Re: Reply to Thread

There is no special feature for replying to a thread as a whole. You always post a reply to an individual post, but you can edit the subject of your reply to make it clear that it is meant for all. For instance "Thanks to all" or "Calling all Loungers". Also, see <!rule=07>Rule 07<!/rule>.

    Re: Reply to Thread

To take it still further: there are a number of regular Loungers who, by habit, always post a reply to the most recent poster - even if the substance of their post is directed to someone completely different. AFAIK the vast majority of Loungers will revisit a thread for an update whether or not they have received a direct reply. HTH

It also depends on the "Flat" mode VS. the "Threaded Mode".
In the threaded mode, one will be replying to the post that is open.

Those of us who use the flat mode, need to be careful of which "Reply" button we select, for each post has one. I try to reply to the post I am replying to, but sometimes I will forget and reply to the bottom post, which will really mess up the threaded view.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Would you care to trade for one that likes to record her own telephone answering machine messages then play them back to herself?
She somehow figured out the correct button, record, button, button sequence. We have to keep the answering machine (it's a separate device in our house) covered or before long our callers get her message instead of ours. <img src=/S/sigh.gif border=0 alt=sigh width=15 height=15>

Thanks All - I get the message

Here I was thinking it was a stupid question and there was something really obvious I had missed and look how much response it generated.

    Thanks all.
