Recovery of Start up templates (Word XP SP-2)

We have a number of Firm templates in our Start-Up directory. When a document in Word crashes, it recovers not only all documents open at that time, but it also tries to recover normal.dot, and also tries to recover all the start-up templates (which are all read-only). We don't want any start-up templates to be recovered by default, simply because they're read only. Is there a way to do this?

    Hi Marla:
When Word crashes, it leaves numerous temp files lying around. If you delete these temp files, Word will not try to recover them. The temp files that try to recover your templates will have the template name in them. For locating them, see the first step in <post#=197827>post 197827</post#>.
    Cheers,
