Using two different Email accounts (Outlook 2000)

I just switched to a new ISP, but am keeping my old address for another month to facilitate subscription address changes, etc. Some questionable subscriptions I am cancelling, and I do not wish to use my new address for this, so I have been switching the default account between the two accounts. This worked until this evening. Now, even though I have set the default mailing account to the new account, it does not let me send, only receive. The old account insists on sending and receiving, even though it is no longer the default account at the moment. I have even shut down Outlook, and rebooted, to no avail. Any ideas? -- Thanks

Try deleting and adding back the old account in your account settings. If that produces no change, try setting the SMTP server of the old account to the same details as that for your new account. HTH

Thank you so much for your tips, I'll save them with my other Outlook hints. -- BUT I'm almost too embarrassed to reply because I have not been too smart here: The "mystery" has been solved. I tried to forward an email which I received with my old address. Apparently you cannot forward the mail with a different account. As soon as I sent that particular email with the old account, everything functioned normally. I never knew this -- I guess I'll remember it though

outlook sends mail out on the account it was recieved on. Changing the smtp server to use the new account (and enable outgoing authorization if required) should take care of it.
