The network is a normal LAN with fileservers and workstations (PC's).

The operating systems will be in the following ratios:

    Windows XP = 95%
    Windows 2000 = 4 %
    Windows 98 = 1%

    Greetings Bob,

This appears to fall under the classification of a Windows OS question; Namely, how to specify that one program is okay to install while others are not. In Windows 98, you shouldn't have a problem; I don't think security policies were strong enough to prevent them at that point in Windows History. 2000 and XP are built primarily on the same engine, with XP being far more reliable, but I would be suprised if a specific program can be 'Cleared' through the policies for installation by a non-admin user.

I've moved this inquiry over to the XP board in the hopes that someone with administration expertise can walk you through the process. I hope this helps!

    Warmest Regards,

Bob, For XP & 2k check out the RUNAS command (start a command prompt and type RUNAS /?. You could add the RUNAS to a network logon script and have it install FLASH. Since Win98 really does not have administrative privileges you probably don't need to woryy about it.

If the player is the ActiveX control that plugs into IE, it also could be a security settings issue (ActiveX control settings). Do you have that locked down (either downloads from the Internet Zone are Disabled, or only Administrative approved controls can run)?
