    IE Script Error (6.0.2800.1106 SP1,etc.)

Not sure if this is correct Forum...if not, please move it...thank you.

I clicked on my NAV desktop icon to get the latest Intelligent Update for virus defs...and the attached popup showed up on desktop...also, when I did click 'yes' on the popup...all lines showed 'refreshing'. I checked the Symantec KBase re this - couldn't find anything.
    Anyone care to help?
    TIA

This is a tough one, because the page with the problem is compiled inside a DLL file. If you want to go exploring, you could try this:

Tools>Internet Options>Advanced>Clear checkbox for Disable Script Debugging

Reload the page and if prompted to debug, click Yes. The offending line of source should be highlighted. Make a note of what it is, or see if you can copy/paste the whole page into a text file.

This next part is from memory: Choose Debug>Detach all processes to quit the de###### and return to the error message. Click No to get back to the page. (If you don't detach all processes, all IE windows are closed when you close the de######.)

I wouldn't bother - it's all very technical stuff you can't do anything about anyway. I recommend hiding this kind of error message. Try the following:
    - In Internet Explorer, select Tools | Internet Options...
    - Activate the Advanced tab.
    - Make sure that the "Display notification a notification about every script error" check box is CLEAR (not ticked.)
    - Make sure that the "Disable Script Debugging" check box is SET (ticked.)
    - Click OK.

That's the exact way it has always been...as you suggested.
I tried, after a reboot, to open my NAV icon...still get the same error popup.
I've got the funny feeling that I will have to uninstall SystemWorks2002 (NAV is part of that) and then remove entries from the Registry, reboot, and then re-install NSW again.
I wonder if I do a Repair of IE if that would fix it? the script error, I mean????

Your screenshot says that the error occurs in a file associated with NAV, so a clean reinstall of Systemworks might work, but I doubt that a repair of Internet Explorer would fix it.

Thanks, Hans,...I figured that might be it... *groans* ...well, I'm off to uninstall my NSW <img src=/S/bwaaah.gif border=0 alt=bwaaah width=123 height=15>

Well, I'm baaaccckkk! All is fixed - did the uninstall of NSW and the re-install plus the updates as required.
Only problem now...I lost the 'globe' (NPF) that sits next to the NAV icon in systray...no big deal...it's there when I hover over the NAV icon...just used to seeing that globe there...will have to hunt around for the instructions on how to get it back - Symantec KB doesn't help much. <img src=/S/evilgrin.gif border=0 alt=evilgrin width=15 height=15>

    Hi Lonnie:
This is a pure guess, but if there's a preference or options menu, there should be a checkbox somewhere to put the icon back in the systray (or load at startup).
    Cheers,

Re: IE Script Error (6.0.2800.1106 SP1,etc.)

Iamapp.exe is already checked in msconfig to automatically load at startup...that isn't the problem...the problem is that the NPF Tray Icon isn't showing next to the NAV Tray Icon.
    Like I said, it's no big deal...just after 3 years of using NPF and seeing the 'globe' there...I kinda miss it <img src=/S/evilgrin.gif border=0 alt=evilgrin width=15 height=15>...but if I have to uninstall NPF to just get a globe back...nah...too much work <img src=/S/evilgrin.gif border=0 alt=evilgrin width=15 height=15>
    So that means, instead of seeing 3 tray icons (NoAds/NAV/NPF)...I only see 2 now <img src=/S/evilgrin.gif border=0 alt=evilgrin width=15 height=15>
    Thanks anyway for the suggestion.

Have you removed and reinstalled NSW? That was going to be my suggestion on fixing this problem. NSW problems can usually be corrected by a reinstall, pain though that is. But I would not bother removing registry entries, just remove, reboot, reinstall, reboot, live update, reboot, etc etc....
