    Speedometer (2000)

I need to create a speedometer-like chart that shows positive and negative variances against budget. The range on the dial represents budget and the needle represents difference from budget. I have created the attached template in power-point (which I have not yet embedded into the spreadsheet - but I guess that this will work OK). However I still need to construct the needle in excel to run across the dial to indicate the current variance from the mid (ie: 9.2m) position.

Also I need some way of making excel automatically pick up the ranges from which the needle needs to run - (i.e.: 9.7m to 8.8m). Ideally this needs to be from a table which I can update.

The speedometer will need to be updated each month as new sets of accounts are produced. - This will entail updating both the ranges and the actual data

Any ideas/thoughts would be most welcome.
