    Virus Scan (Powerpoint 2002)

Sometimes when I open a file, I receive a message "requesting virus scan". This can take an age before I can access the file, especially with a large presentation. How can I disable this function? I run windows XP and have Norton anti virus2003 installed. Any help appreciated.

    Re: Virus Scan (Powerpoint 2002)

Thanks Hans - have tried without success. The only thing I could not find to uncheck was the office plug-in for Norton, which I don't think I have. I tried disabling Norton auto-protect completely and even put one presentation on the exclusion list to see if that worked - nope. I now notice that this message is at the bottom when opening Word and Excel. Any way to even turn this off when opening a large file?

Actually if you have Norton 2003 you do have the Office Plug-in, and you should disable it. It has been the cause of myriad complaints in the Word and Excel forums.

Many thanks, finally found it under miscellanious options, unchecked box, and it has resolved the problem.
