Windows Update/SUS

I have configured my Windows 2000 machine to retrieve MS security updates from our SUS server (by making the required registry changes). This seems to be working fine, it's still to early to tell. However, when I click on 'Windows Update' in IE the computer insists on going to http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp for any update. I want to redirect IE to look at the SUS server but cannot find when this direction information is stored. I can't find a registry key that contains this path.

Any help in this regard would be appreciated.

I am only just starting to look at SUS, but my understanding is that once in place you no longer need to do a manual update as this is a push service. (SUS = Software Update Services).

Jack, That is by design. SUS is designed to only distribute service packs and critical patches. Other patches still need to be downloaded using Windows Update. If you want to distribute other patches you need to look at SMS.

Not necessarily true. You still need some method (either Windows Update or SMS) for non-critical updates.

Thanks, Joe. Once again you've pointed me in the right direction. I'll obviously need to make sure I get what I actually need out of these services.
