Dial Up Connection (IE6 / Win XP)

How can I have my dial-up connection hang up after a prolonged period of inactivity?

    Thanks,
    Saturn

Right click on the connection you want to modify and select properties.

On the Options tab you can set the "idle time before hanging up"

The idle time is set up for 20 minutes. But the line doesn't disconnect after 20 minutes.
    Any other ideas.

    Thanks,

Select your Modem in the Control Panel|Phone and Modem Options applet. Then have a look at Advanced|Change Default Preferences|General|Call preferences. HTH

I tried changing the modem settings as well. Didn't help. Any other sage advice? Please?

If that doesn't work, then there may well be something else keeping your modem connection alive. Do you have your mail client set to automatically poll your POP server every 10 (or 20) minutes? HTH

Try Tools, Internet Options, and then the Connection tab. Then go to the "Settings" button, then down to the "Advance" button. Now there you should be able to set the time limit that you want. "Disconnect after idle ? minutes".

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.
