Restart Numbering (Word 03 on Win XP Pro)

<img src=/S/hairout.gif border=0 alt=hairout width=31 height=23> I'm having a problem using the Right-click Restart Numbers. I'm sure it was working before my holiday but it just won't do it now and it's extremely frustrating. Would anyone know why this is not working?

    Thank you.

What is it doing if the renumber is not?

It continues in the sequence. So it would be something like this:

    1. text
    2. text

    text

Here I want to start again at
    1. instead of which I get 3.

Very frustrating. Thanks for any help.

When right clicking the third "test" entry you do not get the attached if you select "Bullets and Numbering" and if you, do make sure that continue is not marked, but the restart is marked.

Does anybody know why, when you do this, Word insists on changing the tabs / indents, etc. to its defaults, even if you have changed the style? And, more important, how you can stop it! I am sure I used to have a Woody macro that did this, but in an "upgrade" I've lost it.
    Cheers

    KeithC,
Tell us more, what OS, what style(s) were changed and were they made to be the default style and etc.
